Job Summary

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong negotiation skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to manage supply chain activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. We are seeking a Senior Specialist in Purchasing to obtain and acquire goods and services by ensuring they meet the company's specification, finding the best external source, and then buying it for an optimal price.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with a global network of suppliers for electronic components. Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure timely availability of materials while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Oversee the end-to-end sourcing and purchasing process of electronic components, including identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating terms, managing purchase orders, and monitoring inventory levels to ensure smooth operations.
  • Analyze cost structures and implement strategies to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality. Work with cross-functional teams to implement cost-saving initiatives across the supply chain.
  • Work closely with the inventory management team to track stock levels, optimize reorder points, and minimize stockouts or overstock situations. Use ERP and supply chain management systems to track orders and manage supplier performance.
  • Stay updated on market trends, new technologies, and potential risks that could impact the availability or cost of electronic components. Evaluate alternative suppliers and materials to ensure continuity in production.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand product specifications and requirements. Ensure that electronic components purchased meet technical requirements and quality standards for production.
  • Lead negotiations for long-term contracts, ensuring that terms and conditions are favorable to the company. Monitor supplier performance and compliance with agreed terms and quality standards.
  • Analyze purchasing data, prepare regular reports on spending, savings, and supplier performance, and make data-driven recommendations to senior leadership to improve procurement processes.
  • Proactively manage risks related to supplier performance, market fluctuations, or geopolitical issues that could affect supply chain stability. Develop contingency plans as necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement or purchasing within an electronics manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a senior or managerial role.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of electronic components, including semiconductors, passive components, connectors, sensors, and circuit boards. Familiarity with manufacturing processes, product life cycles, and related supply chain activities.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.), Microsoft Office Suite, and procurement software. Experience using data analysis tools and techniques is a plus.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to negotiate effectively with both domestic and international suppliers.
  • Strong ability to analyze market trends, cost data, and supplier performance metrics. Ability to make data-driven decisions and develop strategies to optimize procurement processes.
  • High level of attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor junior staff, and work effectively across cross-functional teams. Strong organizational and time management skills.

Compensation

Base Salary for this position is: $89,000 to $113,000 annually and bonus target is 3%.

In addition to Paid Time Off and paid Holidays, each employee receives 16 hours paid time each calendar year to perform volunteer services for Nordson-sponsored events. The base pay range for this job level is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, business considerations, and local market conditions, as well as candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, and skills
