Nordson Packaging, a global leader in in hot melt adhesive dispensing solutions is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team in Duluth, Georgia as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the development of solutions forthe design and engineering of Mechanical/Electromechanical components and systems related to product/project development. This position interfaces with commercial teams, factory teams (assembly, planning, machine shop, and other operations teams) external vendors, and other engineering organizations within Nordson.This role will also, provide technical support to other related functions within department.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Work independently or with a team on NPD (new product development) or technology projects.
  • Design products using SolidWorks which includes modelling, detailing machining prints and reference drawings, and ensuring manufacturability and application compatibility.
  • Perform design calculations and analyses (thermal, pressure drop, strength, etc.) as required for the design of components.
  • Release products to production through Nordson's nVision and ECR process.
  • Support production in the manufacturing and assembly of Nordson equipment.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with required global regulations, including UL, CE, ROHS, etc.
  • Provide project support and technical leadership from conceptual development all the way through detail engineering phases, product launch and coordination with all functional groups such and marketing, purchasing and operations.
  • Support of existing products through troubleshooting, implementation of corrective actions and value engineering efforts, and new vendor qualification.
  • Provide technical support /training to other related functional departments. Including on-site troubleshooting for customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or significant long term demonstration of excellent engineering accomplishment including commercially successful product design and innovation.
  • At least 5 years working experience in a relevant technical field.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent skills with 3D CAD Modeling software and drafting, SolidWorks is preferred
  • Sound mechanical, and electromechanical engineering skillset with ability to do full range of engineering analysis calculations involving fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, statics, dynamics, and strength of materials
  • Knowledge of developing and creating technical drawings with appropriate dimensioning and tolerancing of precision machined components
  • Must be willing to learn new information quickly and apply basic design practice and theory to a wide range of products and designs
  • May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and professionally under conditions with multiple deadlines and changing priorities
  • Familiarity with Office software, EPDM software experience is Plus, SAP knowledge is a plus
  • Self-starting anddetail-oriented
  • Good organizational skills as well as data and information management skills for future retrieval
  • Flexibility, persistence, resourcefulness, a drive to succeed, and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Should be resourceful in searching for and retrieving information from internal and external sources
  • Excellent work ethic with consistent positive attitude
  • Willingness to communicate with coworkers and customers
  • Good communication and inter-personal skills
