THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Carpenter 1, you will perform a full range of journeyman level carpentry duties including estimating time, material requirements, and supplies. You will be responsible for planning work in accordance with sketches and blueprints, selecting lumber and materials, and accurately measuring and cutting material to the proper dimensions. Work also involves performing alterations, repairs, and maintenance on a variety of structures, while utilizing power saws, jointers, wood lathes, planers, routers, and other related equipment. In addition to carpentry work, this position is also responsible for snow and ice removal efforts as necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Building Trades Trainee program (commonwealth title); or
  • Three years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, restoration, or maintenance of structures and articles made from wood, composite, and wood substitute materials; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
