THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is in search of a talented individual to take on the role of Transportation Planning Specialist Supervisor. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will lead the development, tracking, and financing of the district's 12-Year Transportation Program and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). You will collaborate with project managers to gather initial cost estimates for projects under consideration for programming. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and submitting all necessary federal authorization and agreement forms, as well as participating in monthly technical committee meetings with metropolitan and rural planning organizations to facilitate TIP development. Additionally, you will attend all public participation panel meetings and regularly monitor the program to ensure that all project phases are adequately funded, reallocating any available surplus funds as needed. Your support for the PennDOT Connects initiative will also be a key aspect of your role, ensuring alignment with broader transportation goals and community engagement.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Indiana.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66,250.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Transportation Planning Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of professional transportation planning or transportation programming experience, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
