Job Overview
The incumbent provides medical and clinical services at multiple locations or at larger company facilities. Researches existing or potential occupational health hazards and precautionary measures. Develops and implements solutions to ensure that existing hazards are eliminated and potential hazards are controlled. Participates and provides recommendations in the formulation and implementation of company-wide health programs. Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Provides medical and clinical services such as pre-employment testing, periodic physical examinations, return to work evaluations and medical care for occupational illnesses and/or accidents at multiple locations and/or at larger company facilities.
- Provides supervision or work guidance to medical office personnel, such as medical laboratory technicians, to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures in medical activities.
- Oversees recommendations regarding need for precautionary medical interventions such as vaccines and medical examinations. Provides recommendations to management to safeguard employee health.
- Investigates on-site accidents, determines severity of injury(ies), and contacts appropriate agencies to ensure that treatment is provided in a timely manner.
- Participates in the formulation and administration of health programs to ensure that employee health needs are met in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other governmental guidelines.
- Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
- Inspects plants and offices; makes recommendations regarding sanitation improvements and elimination of health hazards.
- May direct the activities of company infirmary and/or dispensary to ensure that medical treatment and drug prescriptions adhere to established legal, ethical, medical and governmental guidelines.
- All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Medical degree in a related field preferred.
- Physician's license to practice in the state of employment.
- Eleven or more years of medical practitioner experience.
- Proficiency in stress test interpretation and reading electrocardiograms.
- Physician is board certified in preventive medicine or a primary care specialty to serve as the Medical Director.
- Physician(s) maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Course C, and AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider.
- Experience working with occupational medicine and general medical practice policies and procedures.
- Experience working with compliance-related guidelines, laws, policies, procedures and regulations.
- Experience working with physical aspects of company locations.
- Experience working with company employment policies such as, physical health selection criteria, approved health-related absence requests and need for periodical health examinations.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
- Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
- Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
- Must have, and maintain, a valid driver's license.
Preferred:
- Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.
