Senior Product Quality Engineer (NRG Energy, Inc. (f/k/a Vivint, Inc.), Lehi, UT)

Validate design specifications, component specification, mechanical designs, thermal designs for manufacturability, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. Develop hardware quality and reliability validation test plans that outline quality standards, testing methodologies, and production quality control measures specific to hardware design. Ensure these plans are aligned with internal customer requirements and regulatory standards. Facilitate the testing of prototypes to assess their functionality, reliability, and durability. Identify design flaws or potential areas for improvement based on test results and feedback. Use Python & BASH in linux environment to setup testing scripts, dashboards, and data monitoring for test. All testing must be remote access and automated data collection. Perform failure analysis and root cause analysis to identify failure modes for failed samples. Lead DFMEA risk assessments to identify potential quality issues within the design phase. Implement risk mitigation strategies to prevent these issues from affecting the final product. Utilize input from existing products. Lead design reviews to ensure that quality standards and requirements are integrated into product designs from the beginning. Lead discussions with suppliers and component manufacturers to ensure the quality and reliability of materials and parts used in prototypes and final designs. Evaluate supplier quality systems and processes to ensure they meet design specifications. Provide expert advice on quality standards and best practices in hardware design while collaborating with Product Managers, Electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, rf engineers, material engineers, compliance engineers, manufacturing test engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure quality considerations are integrated throughout the design and development process. Apply Design for Quality methodologies to enhance product reliability and manufacturability. This includes advising on materials selection, design simplification, and assembly processes to improve product quality. Maintain documentation of design decisions, testing results, and quality measures implemented throughout the design process. Report on design quality status, challenges, and improvement initiatives to stakeholders. Continually seek ways to improve design quality processes and methodologies. Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in hardware design and quality engineering and incorporate best practices to enhance product quality. Maintain a feedback loop between the design team, manufacturing, and field service professionals to continuously improve the design based on manufacturing capabilities and real-world product performance. International travel may be required 10-15% of the time to manufacturing locations in Asia. Salary: $92,539 - $95,000 per year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or U.S. equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus 2 years of professional experience as Product Quality Engineer, Quality Engineer, or any position/occupation/job title involving development and validation of consumer electronics.

Must also have experience in the following: 2 years of professional experience performing system operation utilizing Python and Bash to write and develop testing scripts that replicate use case and accelerated life for products, including remote testing and data collection; 2 years of professional experience tracking individual test samples and maintaining testing records for the life of the product;

2 years of professional experience with Linux or Mac Operating System; 2 years of professional experience performing Mechanical Design for consumer electronics; 2 years of professional experience utilizing InfluxDB and Flux query language and Grafana for populating real-time and time series data collection and monitoring of remote tests; 2 years of professional experience utilizing Salea Logic Analyzer for development of test scripting for component operation; 2 years of professional experience designing and building consumer electronic devices with wifi capability.
