Job Summary:
|
Senior Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in an experimental lab, or wet lab, and handle a variety of chemicals and/or potential "wet" hazards. Senior Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in laboratories where chemicals, drugs, or other materials or biological matters are tested and analyzed. Key Responsibilities:
- Laboratory-based translational research investigating strategies to improve CAR T cell therapy by altering the tumor microenvironment in various pre-clinical solid tumor models.
- Conduct experiments, assist with project planning, data interpretation, training scientists, students, and volunteers, as well as presentation of data, and assist in grant writing and manuscript preparation.
- Other responsibilities will be laboratory management, including but not limited to ordering, equipment maintenance, updating protocols/cell bank, and general mouse husbandry (no breeding)
- Seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced scientist who has the initiative and skill set to take charge of in vivo projects and assist in other projects involving tissue culture, mouse tumor models, flow cytometry, and molecular biology.
- The ideal applicant will know basic immunology, be able to work in a team setting, have superb organizational skills, have experience working with mice, and be able to assist in processing tumor specimens.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis
- Two (2) years of professional-level research experience
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Condition of Employment:
- Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field
- Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory
- Basic flow cytometry
- Competent with ELISAs and cloning.
- Tissue culture and maintenance of various cell lines.
- Animal experience (designing/mouse handling/injections/harvesting/sacrificing)
- Multicolor flow cytometry experience
- Murine model expert. Ability to lead in this aspect and train others.
- Previous experience in presenting and/or aiding in publications
- Competency with FlowJo, Microsoft Office, Prism GraphPad, and analysis software(s)
- Immunohistochemistry
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques, including safety procedures and techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
- Ability to stay organized under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team
- Ability to complete lab functions involving cell culture and aseptic techniques
- Competency with molecular biology techniques
- Ability to troubleshoot and independently resolve technical issues with experiments
- Background in immunology

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The hiring range for this position has been established as $54,440 to $69,248. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
