Full-time, 40 Hours/Week Day Shift Onsite - Akron, OH Summary: Manages the daily operations and staff of the Infection Prevention and Control Department in collaboration with the Medical Director and Associate Medical Director. Acts as co-Infection Control Officer with the Medical Director for the organization (required by CMS standards-Refer to Certificate of Authority for Infection Prevention and Control for Akron Children's Hospital). Acts as a key organizational leader for Akron Children's Hospital Infection Prevention and Control Program. Responsibilities:
- Oversight of the case findings and surveillance systems in infection control.
- Oversight of infection control related to accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Investigation and analysis of suspected outbreaks both internally and externally.
- Internal and external reporting of infection control outcome data.
- Oversight of infection control-specific data collection and analysis.
- Development, implementation, and assessment of infection prevention and control education for the organization.
- Responsible for development, implementation, assessment, and updating of infection control policies and procedures for the organization.
- Responsible for recommending system improvements to prevent transmission of infections.
- Partnership with key leaders to implement the infection control prevention strategies and plan for the organization.
- Active involvement in infection control related improvement activities, but not limited to; construction/renovation, environmental services, employee health, Infectious Disease., emergency preparedness, respiratory protection program, SPD, etc.
- Serves as a working clinical manager and leverages the infection control team and delegates responsibilities accordingly.
- Manager is an integral team member of the safety and quality program of this organization and plays a key role in driving high reliability.
- Manager position will require candidate to carry on-call pager 24/7. And be available to staff, providers, and residents to answer clinical questions 24/7. Occasionally, work will require weekend hours to cover infection control activities related to patient or staff needs.
- Acts as an infection control content expert when working with public health, Ohio Department of Health, and CDC.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.

Other information:
Technical Expertise
- Experience in using Epic Electronic Medical Records system is preferred.
- Experience in using Epic's Bugsy Module for infection control surveillance is preferred.
- Experience in using the Ohio Disease Reporting System (ODRS) is preferred.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
- Experience in healthcare is required.
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience
- Education: MSN or MPH preferred or equivalent bachelor's degree in healthcare related field. Must be enrolled in and obtain a master's degree in healthcare related field within 12 months of hire.
- Membership(s) in relevant infection control organizations is preferred, such as but not limited to; APIC and/or SHEA.
- Fellow of APIC is required. (Candidate must obtain fellowship status within 3 years of working as manager).
