The Leave of Absence (LOA) Manager leads the administration and strategic oversight of company-wide leave programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws. This role is responsible for managing a team of LOA specialists and supporting a workforce of 10,000+ employees across multiple states. The LOA Manager ensures a consistent, compliant, and employee-centered leave experience in alignment with company policy and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

*Lead and develop a team of LOA specialists, providing coaching, support, and performance management
*Oversee the end-to-end leave administration process, including FMLA, ADA, short- and long-term disability, parental leave, military leave, and personal leaves
*Serve as a key escalation point for complex or high-risk leave cases and accommodations
*Partner with internal stakeholders (HRBPs, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and Compliance) and external leave vendors to coordinate seamless leave processing and return-to-work transitions
*Monitor multi-state leave compliance and proactively implement policy and process updates as regulations evolve
*Manage relationships and performance with third-party leave administrators and insurance carriers
*Collaborate with internal communications and HR teams to educate managers and employees on leave policies, tools, and best practices
*Analyze leave trends and metrics to identify opportunities for operational improvements or employee support enhancements
*Participate in or lead cross-functional projects such as system upgrades, benefits integration, or policy redesign

Preferred Qualifications:

*Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience in leave administration preferred or high school diploma or GED with 5 years of experience required
*At least 1 year in a leadership or management role preferred
*Proven experience managing leave programs in a large, multi-state organization (10,000+ employees)
*Deep knowledge of federal and state leave laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, PDL, CFRA, etc.) and best practices
*Experience with third-party leave vendors and HRIS/leave management platforms (Workday, Oracle, etc.)
*Strong people leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills
*Ability to balance legal compliance with a positive employee experience
*Certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or CEBS is a plus

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree with 2 years of increasingly responsible HR management experience preferred or high school diploma or GED with 5 years experience as strong HR generalist background required
* PHR/SPHR preferred
* Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
* Demonstrated ability in negotiation and conflict resolution
* Proficient use of applicable technology
* Strong organizational skills, ability to multi -tasking and prioritize
* Must have attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
* Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
