SUMMARY: The Materials Analyst serves as a backup to the Sr. Materials Analyst, with responsibilities across production planning, scheduling, raw material procurement, and order management to ensure customer and production needs are met. The role involves close coordination with internal teams, suppliers, and customers, with a strong emphasis on schedule accuracy, material availability, and inventory oversight. This position supports daily operations and serves as a key point of continuity during staff absences or high-volume periods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

GENERAL TASKS



  • Enter and manage customer orders (manual and EDI-based)
  • Maintain SAP and Access database accuracy for order tracking and material management
  • Coordinate and distribute schedules and updates across Production, Shipping, Purchasing, and Management
  • Maintain and communicate the production floor schedule daily
  • Support and participate in inventory counts, reconciliation, and audits
  • Generate and analyze reports related to sales, orderbook, and production metrics
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and communicate relevant updates
  • Perform administrative and documentation tasks to support audits and compliance
  • Ensure adherence to ISO/TS, IATF, and environmental/health/safety standards



RAW MATERIAL PROCUREMENT TASKS



  • Source and procure raw materials and components based on production needs
  • Maintain vendor relationships and follow up on open POs and delivery schedules
  • Forecast raw material demand based on MRP signals and order history
  • Analyze market trends and lead times; prepare market condition reports
  • Monitor and report on inventory turns, supplier pricing, and plant spend
  • Maintain raw material availability to support uninterrupted production
  • File and maintain documentation related to the procurement process



PLANNING TASKS



  • Develop and adjust production schedules to meet customer orders and demand changes
  • Manage total production scheduling across all product lines
  • Coordinate powder releases and integrate customer-defined schedules (DEFINE, portals, etc.)
  • Adjust schedules in response to equipment downtime, quality issues, or overtime
  • Assist in BOM/routing updates and integration into planning tools as needed
  • Support scenario planning and capacity reviews based on forecast
  • Backup the Sr. Materials Analyst during absence and support higher-level planning
  • Assumes the responsibilities of the Materials Analyst when absent
  • Work effectively as a team member of the Production Department
  • Available for work beyond regularly scheduled hours
  • Attendance is required



QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and write English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Familiarity with customer and company part numbers, blueprints and drawings.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to work under pressure. Must be very pro-active in approach to the scheduling function.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to use computers with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and LOTUS Notes. Strong Access Database experience is a must. Excellent typing skills required. Must be detail and quality oriented. Ability to work independently with little direction/supervision along with ability to work effectively as part of a team.
