Come join the family! Job Summary The Principal Test Engineer role is focused on the design, development and execution of tests and testing systems for semiconductor lasers and modules. This role requires a foundation in lasers, optics, physics, and electrical engineering, as well as proficiency in troubleshooting, calibration, and quality assurance procedures. This position will interface with other team members representing a wide range of disciplines. Job Responsibilities Manage test needs for complex projects and production, including design, development, analysis, documentation and support testing of products, test systems or subsystems. Involved with the design and development of test programs to measure the functionality and integrity of products and services. Write test procedures and protocols to assess product reliability and evaluates the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications. Debugs test hardware and software. Create production documentation to support AS9100. Create and maintain control plans, SPC charts and use other tools such as FMEA to control and improve product quality. Perform design of experiments (DOEs) to improve production and quality, analyze data, suggest assembly, tooling, and product improvements. Develop training collateral and train technicians. participates in the design and validation of production and test software. Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization. Our Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience testing and setting up test systems for high power laser diodes and quantum cascade laser components or systems, particularly in the near-infrared and mid-wavelength infrared spectral regions. Ability to manage projects related to design and installation of complex test stations. Great communication ability both verbal and in writing, a demonstrated ability to perform technical writing to communicate complex ideas. A broad understanding of optics, mechanics, software, electronics and heat transfer as they apply to laser test systems. A good understanding of statistics as it applies to analyzing test data and to industrial process control. A basic understanding of quality control techniques such as DOE, SPC, FMEA, poka yoke, lean manufacturing, etc. The ability to obtain DOD security clearance.
