Position Summary:

The Internal Auditor 2 plans and performs independent audits of financial records, applicable Federal and State regulations, operational procedures, and controls, and assists on information security audits, as needed, to ensure the financial institution is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Reviews Bank practices and records for compliance with established internal policies and procedures.

This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

This position may be filled at a lower or higher level depending on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Skills:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related business field or 4 years of related experience
  • 3-5 years of progressively more responsible work experience in a financial institution or CPA firm
  • Proficiency in application of internal auditing theory, standards, procedures, and techniques
  • Proficiency in accounting principles and techniques
  • Ability to document audit findings
  • Good understanding of human relations and the ability to maintain satisfactory relationships with auditees
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Developed cognitive skills to include Problem Solving, Judgement, Organization & Planning
  • Developed intrapersonal skills to include Follow-Through, Optimism, Initiative
  • Developed interpersonal skills to include Communication: Listening, Speaking, and Writing, Resilience & Balance, Versatility


Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Skills:


  • Industry Certification(s) and/or designations: Certified public accountant (CPA), certified internal auditor (CIA) designation or acceptable professional certification
  • Compliance, finance, and/or operational audit experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Conduct regular audit procedures and activities for financial institution branches and departments of the main office as assigned
  • Plan and conduct independent audits and examinations of financial institution records to ensure compliance with laws and regulations as assigned
  • Assist in the development and performance of compliance, financial, or operational related audit work program
  • Assist in the implementation of new or revised internal audit policies, methods, and procedures
  • Assist independent auditors and regulatory examiners during audits as necessary
  • Prepare written reports of internal audit reviews, including findings, analyses, conclusions, and recommended actions.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as appointed by management
