POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: AV Technician

LOCATION/DEPT: DHQ- Information Technology

PAY GRADE: 404

PAY RATE: 19.83-23.79

DEPARTMENT MISSION

Effective and current IT policies, procedures and systems are in place to support Corps/Institutions/staff in meeting the mission of The Salvation Army.

OUTCOMES

NCI staff receive IT support and direction so that their IT needs are effectively met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employees, departments and sites of the NCI Division receive service/support in IT systems and applications that are:




  1. Administration and Planning
  2. Provide AV support for designated Corps & Divisional events.
  3. Provide training and support to Corps, Institution staff and divisional AV teams as needed.
  4. Provide technical support for IT related projects and hardware.
  5. Work with AV Consultants, vendors, and technicians as needed.
  6. Set up and operate audio and visual equipment for live events, presentations, and productions. Troubleshoot technical issues during events.
  7. Ensure seamless integration of audio and visual elements.
  8. Instruct clients on system operation.
  9. Ensure equipment safety.
  10. Install media equipment and support tools.
  11. Complete wiring and programming when applicable
  12. Set up and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for events and functions such as concerts, sports events, meetings and conventions, presentations, and news conferences. -
  13. Diagnose and resolve media system problems, replacing parts and systems as necessary
  14. Provide technical support for web conferences, teleconferences, or distance-learning classes
  15. Manage storage of all audio and video files

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Director of Information Technology. This position has team responsibility to other IT staff as they relate to programs and institutions and will serve as primary contact for the Kroc campus. In contacts related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASURMENTS

This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved. Timeliness and accuracy of accomplishing assigned goals will be reviewed. An evaluation of how effectively supported groups and team members respond to the services being provided will also be done.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



  • A Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent in Information systems or AV communications.
  • Certifications in the applications used by the Division preferred.
  • A knowledge of soundboards, audio visual equipment.
  • Experience in Projection and setting up audio visual for large and small events.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementation, and operation.
  • Must cleared Safe from Harm training within the first 90 days.
  • Valid Driver's license/MVR clearance.

POSITION LIMITATIONS



  • This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
  • This individual will keep the Information Technology Director informed on all critical issues relating to his/her area of responsibility.
  • This individual will adhere to all Army policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • This position is required to do moderate physical work and must frequently lift and/or move up to 50-100 pounds.
  • Must be able to install and operate computer equipment, software and other technical equipment.
  • The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a moderate noise level.
  • Must be able to travel to all locations within the division.
