Posting Summary
The School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University, Newark campus, seeks applications for a full-time, 10-month non-tenure track ( NTT) Professional Practice Professor appointment at the Associate level to develop and serve as the Executive Director of a new Executive Master's Program. This program will be primarily tailored for full-time professionals working in criminal justice agencies and related local government and nonprofit entities. This is a 3-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The teaching load is 1 course per semester, in addition to administrative duties associated with establishing and running the program.

The Executive Director will report to the Dean of the School of Criminal Justice and will work in collaboration with the Director of the School's current MA programs, the School's faculty, the Dean, and University partners.

Responsibilities:
The incumbent faculty member shall:
1. Develop and direct a new Executive MA Program (the program has an estimated start date of January 2026).
2. Build a robust nationally recognized Executive MA program focusing on enrolling students from CJ-related professional constituencies, implementing novel curricula and teaching methodologies, and identifying personnel best equipped to teach online courses in the curriculum.
3. Maintain a rigorous and robust teaching program in classes for MA students. Utilize recognized best practices for online criminal justice education, including active and experiential learning pedagogies, and ensure that these are implemented throughout the curricula.
4. Aid in the maintenance and management of teaching facilities, equipment, and space for hybrid sessions.
8. Maintain and manage course scheduling for the Executive MA program.
9. Mentor and advise students in the Executive MA program.
10. Maintain pursuit of internal or external research funding and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
The division of responsibilities for this position is as follows: administrative and program oversight (60%); training and classroom teaching of two courses per year (15%); research and scholarship (15%); and business management, event planning, and communications (10%). These responsibilities may be amended upon written notification and additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Overview
The School (https://rscj.newark.rutgers.edu/) is ACS accredited, with faculty engaged in research, mentorship, and teaching of undergraduate and graduate students. The department services approximately 700 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. We offer several degrees at the master's level: a master's degree in criminal justice, a joint degree for students jointly enrolled in an undergraduate and master's degree; and dual degrees with social work, public affairs and administration, law, and other Rutgers University-Newark Schools. The applicant should be interested in developing and directing a world-class Executive Master's program to reach professionals in law enforcement and justice-related fields.
