Position Summary The Senior Accountant will manage and oversee all aspects of accounting and payroll functions for the company. This individual will ensure the accurate processing of payroll, financial reporting, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Senior Accountant will also assist in day-to-day accounting General entries and reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing. Duties and Responsibilities Payroll Management:
- Process payroll for all employees including hourly and salaried on semi-monthly basis using ADP and Business central.
- Ensure accuracy of the timesheets and ensure proper approval of the timesheets
- Responsible for payroll related BS reconciliations, to include by not limited to accrued wages, accrued bonus, 401k liability, accrued PTO.
- Calculate and report payroll taxes and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Maintain payroll records and provide detailed reports for management as required.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, PTO, timesheet and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related filings (e.g., W-2s, and state unemployment filings).
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual tax returns (e.g., Form 941, state taxes).
Accounting Duties:
- Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of various G/L accounts to ensure timely and accurate period close; Review team member reconciliations and support associated journal entries.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Demonstrate the ability to research and support the resolution of variances and discrepancies identified during transaction processing and reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of year-end audit workpapers and tax filings.
- Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns, including sales tax, income tax, and other state and local filings.
- Ensure that the payroll system and accounting systems are properly integrated and aligned.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new financial processes or payroll policies.
- Perform other duties as required or requested by management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience/combined education)
- 6+ years of experience in accounting and payroll, with a focus on senior-level responsibilities.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP).
- Experience with accounting principles, tax laws, and payroll regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Navision/Business Central experience
- Experience with Concur
- Payroll certifications (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional) and/or CPA designation are a plus.
