Overview

We are seeking a GIS Manager to lead and coordinate geospatial projects in the utilities industry. The ideal candidate will have experience managing GIS teams, overseeing project lifecycles, and ensuring the successful delivery of mapping and spatial analysis solutions. This role requires technical expertise in GIS software, data analytics, and geospatial modeling, along with strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. The GIS Manager will play a critical role in bridging the gap between GIS specialists, engineers, planners, and decision-makers.



Responsibilities

Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Supports Operations with technical advice, research, and data to address the organization's operational needs.
  • Lead GIS project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery.
  • Manage budgets and project costs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including GIS analysts, developers, data scientists, and engineers.
  • Oversee the collection, processing, and integration of geospatial data from multiple sources (satellite imagery, LiDAR, UAVs, field surveys, etc.).
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across GIS databases and applications.
  • Compile data required for map preparation, including aerial photographs, survey notes, records, reports, and original maps.
  • Maintain or modify existing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases.
  • Manage GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine, PostGIS, and other geospatial platforms per Client requirements.
  • Perform initial investigations and research to develop project plans for assigned projects and tasks specific to the expertise or knowledge required for the position.
  • Study legal records to establish boundaries of local, national, and international properties.
  • Perform computer programming, data analysis, or software development for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications, including the maintenance of existing systems or research and development for future enhancements.
  • Produce data layers, maps, tables, or reports, using spatial analysis procedures or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology, equipment, or systems.
  • Prepare and alter trace maps, charts, tables, detailed drawings, and three-dimensional optical models of terrain using stereoscopic plotting and computer graphics equipment.
  • Analyze Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data to identify spatial relationships or display results of analyses, using maps, graphs, or tabular data.
  • Design or prepare graphic representations of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data, using GIS hardware or software applications.
  • Delineate aerial photographic detail, such as control points, hydrography, topography, and cultural features, using precision stereoplotting apparatus or drafting instruments.
  • Provide technical expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)technology to clients or users.
  • Manage assigned projects and tasks.
  • Monitor performance of recent program implementations and make any adjustments as required to achieve desired results.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • S./B.A. degree in Engineering, Construction, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Construction, or Project Management in the Natural Gas Pipeline space
  • 5+ years of experience in the Utilities industry, preferably Natural Gas Utility
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with various departments to meet Company and Project Goals.
  • Must have the ability to develop significant rapport and positive working relationships with field personnel.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of business operating groups, GIS tools, and gas pipeline system (transmission, distribution, stations, etc.)
  • Must be innovative in finding solutions to operational and technical problems.
  • Ability to utilize engineering/technical principles to analyze and take action on findings
  • Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Power BI, and possibly Power Apps.
