A day in the life...

As a General Maintenance Mechanic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our plant's machinery and equipment. Your expertise will contribute to a smooth and productive operation by performing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing effective solutions. The typical schedule for this position will be Wednesday through Saturday, day shift hours. Overtime may be required.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, servicing equipment, and handling plumbing tasks, all while ensuring compliance with safety standards. You will also maintain accurate documentation related to your work area. With your problem-solving skills and technical knowledge, you will help create a well-maintained and efficient facility, supporting overall operational success.

What you will be doing...



  • Inspecting machinery and equipment for proper oil levels, pressures, temperatures, and flows
  • Diagnosing source(s) of trouble in operating equipment and perform proper repair/replacement procedures.
  • Properly performing LOTO procedures in isolating and de-energizing equipment and systems that are to be worked on, identify and eliminate or report unsafe conditions in the Plant, and perform all tasks in a safety conscious manner.
  • Adjust, align, balance repair, overhaul, and rebuilding plant equipment.
  • Perform welding, cutting, brazing, pipefitting tasks.
  • Cleaning and painting equipment and/or areas of the Plant.
  • Upgrading skills and knowledge of Plant systems, equipment, and components.
  • Ensuring safe and proper use of tools and equipment; ensures hand tools are free of defects; maintains neat and orderly work area, including proper storage/disposal of lubricants, solvents, paint and other chemicals in accordance with OSHA, EPA and other regulatory agencies and company policy.
  • Adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines to ensure product quality and uphold food safety standards.
  • Learning to Identify and address potential food safety hazards, process deviations, or non-conformities, while maintaining proactive communication with supervisors.
  • Documenting food safety and quality procedures, maintaining detailed records of monitoring, verification, and corrective actions.



Do you have what it takes?



  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (Managers?)
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, schematics, parts lists, and other equipment information.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills.
  • Ability to comprehend technical manuals, instructions and warning signs.
  • Knowledge and ability to safely and proficiently use a variety of hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to operate welding/brazing equipment, lathes, milling machines and other shop equipment
  • Ability to work overtime as required


Do you stand above the rest?



  • 3 to 5 years of heavy industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the following maintenance disciplines: AC/DC motors, gear box mechanics, lubrication principles, welding, cutting torch, NFPA 70E, and common maintenance hand tools.
  • Intermediate knowledge of pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems,

  • Safety. Your safety is important to us, so we provide protective gear. We also go through an in-depth Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training on your first day and continue to share safety tips daily
  • Surroundings. You'll be working around different machines - Schubert's, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and chocolate candy banks/steels.
  • Activity. Some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs/ladders, and routinely lift 50 lbs.
  • Temperature. You will be comfortable year-round with our climate-controlled environment. Our temperatures are consistently around 63F but could fluctuate depending on your specific role.
  • Smell. You will enjoy a variety of deliciously sweet aromas and you may end your day smelling like chocolate!
  • Dress code. Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for food safety, personal safety and in guidance with our good manufacturing practices (GMP). Slip resistant, safety toe, and Electrical Hazard (EH) rated footwear is required for all maintenance/ HVAC employees.
