We Require
One year of experience coordinating or administering a program or service related to vital records, health, mortuary sciences, or another science-related program Bachelor's degree in a Public Health, Public/Business/Healthcare Administration, Forensic/Mortuary Science, or related field A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

Job Contributions
Coordinates and responds to inquiries involving the recording and registration of live births that occur outside of a licensed healthcare facility and per ARS * 36-329 and AAC R9-19-204. Oversees and executes the daily registration operations and lawful recording of births that occur within Maricopa County, including the registration of all live births that occur outside of a licensed healthcare institution. Coordinates with the Birth Registration & Issuance Services (BR&IS) Supervisor in the development of the vital records specialists to assist, as needed, for support in the absence of the Registration Services Program Coordinator with the attended or unattended birth registrations occurring outside of a birth facility or without access to the EBRS system. Responsible for all vital records staff statutory compliance and maintaining legal competency oversight of the live birth registration process and its activities, including the preparation and dissemination of various reports and communication to partners, stakeholders, and management. Coordinates and responds to inquiries involving fetal death recording and fetal death registrations in accordance with ARS * 36-333 and AAC R9-19-305. Coordinates with the Death Registration & Issuance Services (DR&IS) Supervisor in development of the vital records specialists to assist, as needed for support in the absence of the Registration Services Program Coordinator responsible for the registration and lawful recording of deaths and fetal deaths associated with a family burial or non-EDRS (Electronic Death Registration System) facility that occur within Maricopa County. Responsible for all vital records staff, statutory compliance, and maintaining legal competency oversight of the death and fetal death registration process and its activities. Collaborates with the Development and Compliance Team to identify, coordinate, and address quality assurance and statutory compliance concerns related to the registration of vital events, ensuring adherence to established laws, policies, and procedures. Participates in the review and resolution of registration discrepancies, implements corrective actions, and supports continuous improvement efforts to uphold the integrity of the vital records system. Prepares, coordinates, and collaborates with colleagues and partners on special projects, program outreach activities, and community relations efforts as necessary. Oversees, coordinates, and executes the registration requests, partner letters, worksheets, affidavits, applications, and, upon completion, prepares and transfers (electronic) to the custodial office or agency for permanent archival and retention.
Working Conditions
Travel will be required for fieldwork, attending conferences, trainings, and possible varying work locations and hours Will be required to physically and electronically deliver Maricopa County vital records to the Arizona Department of Health Services Ability to serve as an on-call contact after hours and on weekends Ability to handle traumatic matters Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency. Must complete background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to successfully secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card Must possess or can obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire. Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test Upon successful completion of probation and County, State, and applicable Federal training, will be appointed as a deputy local registrar by the State in accordance with A.R.S. *36-311; may be appointed as a Notary
