Job Summary
We're seeking qualified applicants for three full-time regular (30-hour per week [2] & 37.5 hours per week [1]) Childcare Assistant positions. In this role, you will work under the general direction of the Childcare Supervisor to provide care and support in a full day childcare program for the County at the new Ashburn Recreation & Community Center. The ideal candidate will have strong time management skills, the ability to maintain open and effective communication with children, parents, and staff, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
We are currently hiring for the following location(s): Ashburn Recreation & Community Center, Ashburn, VA
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: * Monitors children's behavior, communication, and engagement in program activities; follows the required staff-to-student ratios and protocols for supervising and interacting with the children. * Assists in developing and implementing educational and leisure activities for children attending childcare. * Maintains a professional and supportive line of communication with parents, site personnel, and staff, ensuring timely responses to parent inquiries and requests. * Prioritizes the health and safety of children in the program; performs and documents daily health and safety checks. * Other essential duties related to the specific role and departmental assignment may also be performed as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent and six months of program experience with children.
Preferred Qualifications: * Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate. * Understanding the stages of childhood development. * Ability to design developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Must undergo pre-employment fingerprinting and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year after that. Certifications in First Aid/CPR before or right after starting employment. Complete the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens and Daily Health Check training course within 30 days of hire. MAT training within 90 days of hire. A sworn disclosure statement or affirmation must be completed annually, disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.
