Thales Defense & Security, Inc. has an opening for an intern within the Software Engineering department for 8 weeks during the summer of 2025. This position will be responsible for select entry level assignments that will provide exposure to the software job family. This position is located in the Aurora, IL office and reports to the Software Engineering Manager.



Responsibilities

Intern will be responsible for completing the following assignments successfully:

    Developing software in C for embedded Linux system that drives a helmet-mounted display.
  • Expanding, maintaining, and fixing bugs in Python for the helmet-mounted display Test Suite.
  • Manual testing of software systems.
  • Documenting procedures and automating repeated software tasks.


Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required. - Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university of college and have completed at least 2 semesters within Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or Computer Science fields.
  • Proficient in C/C++.
  • Proficient in Python is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be proficient in English both verbal and written.
  • Intern must be able to comply with Thales policies, procedures and guidelines.

The hourly pay range for this role is $22.00-$25.00 USD. The pay range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the experience level for the role described above. TDSI considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
