The incumbent is responsible for the procurement of pharmaceuticals, supplies, and services required by the Department of Pharmacy and UC Davis Health. Duties include, but are not limited to, purchasing pharmaceuticals negotiating pharmaceutical contracts and obtaining quotes for capital purchases, equipment and supplies. Major goals for this position and the department include the identification of cost saving opportunities and minimization of risk (potential litigation) for UCDH regarding procurement and contracting. The incumbent must be highly skilled in performing analysis using various tools. The incumbent works independently and proactively with decision-making responsibility under the general direction of Pharmacy Leadership. Performance is measured in terms of meeting specific goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position.
- Bachelor's degree in related area, and/or equivalent experience/training
- Three (3) years of working experience in pharmacy purchasing and operations.
- Advanced knowledge of pharmacy purchasing, operations, and accepted Business practices.
- Working knowledge of and demonstrated ability to perform the procurement function using an automated purchasing system as well as other computerized systems and computer-generated data.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
- Thorough knowledge of standard procurement procedures and comprehensive knowledge of equipment/technical/medical/supplies, equipment and services.
Preferred Qualifications
- California Licensed Pharmacy Technician
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, utilizing both oral and written skills to effect action in a diplomatic manner.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the procurement marketplace and commodities.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate conditions of task assignments and make recommendations to improve, revise, and/or clarify current systems, procedures, and policies etc. to promote increased efficiency in assignment and department operations.
- Ability to foresee problems and develop ways of solving them with the least negative impact on the department.
- Demonstrated ability to act independently and proactively.
- Demonstrated ability to weigh all available information to arrive at a logical conclusion, displaying a readiness to make decisions.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and complete projects on time.
- Ability to work under heavy pressure and produce accurate, detailed work.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Business subjects, such as Purchasing, Business Law, Economics, and Accounting, in addition to analytical skills and the demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to the assigned tasks.
- Conceptual grasp of the legal and social obligations of the University relative to campus and system wide policy.
- Capability to prepare and maintain fully documented procurement/project files which reflect a thorough knowledge of established policies and procedures to meet University requirements.

Department Overview
UC Davis Health is a nationally recognized leader in the provision of high-quality, patient-centered care, based in the Greater Sacramento area of Northern California. The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.
The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.
