Essential Responsibilities:
Position is responsible for investigating, developing, testing, and recommending new software solutions for existing or proposed processes. The position will evaluate and implement new applications and support ongoing effective utilization of applications. The position will also be required to support LIMS (Lab Information Management System) and other laboratory quality systems. The position will regularly communicate with internal team members across departments and locations in both the United States and Canada, as well as end users and external vendors.
Duties and responsibilities include:
* Identify opportunities for improving LIMS functionality and performance;
* Lead other team members and provide production support;
* Develop LIMS systems which may include configuration, administration, upgrades/patches, system documentation, user support, custom reports, bug fixes, enhancements, and training at Level 2;
* Design and architect technical solutions that meets functional requirements;
* Develop coding standards and perform code reviews;
* Architect LIMS and other laboratory information systems including hardware and software;
* Program within LIMS and LIMS interfaces to other hardware and software systems;
* Maintain industry knowledge of technical advances in LIMS and other laboratory solutions;
* Meet with users to plan the implementation of LIMS, enhancements, and assess impact to operations and necessary workflow changes;
* Develop interfaces from LIMS to scientific instruments and troubleshoot any issues;
* Configure and support LIMS analysis, test lists, and other LIMS static data as needed;
* Focus on meeting customer expectations and working with a customer service mindset;
* Develop Crystal and Excel reports, data reports to customers, Key Performance Indicator reports, and any other reports needed to support the laboratory functions;
* Support the business in the retrieval of data from LIMS. Provide data for analysis utilizing queries and reporting tools;
* Meet with lab management teams to plan the implementation of LIMS, enhancements, and assess impact to operations and necessary workflow changes; and
* Work directly with laboratory equipment manufacturers to understand and maintain LIMS/equipment interfaces.
Position allows for occasional telecommuting within commuting distance of reporting office in Chicago, IL.
YOUR PROFILE
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or closely related technical field (or foreign degree equivalent). Employer will accept a 3 or 4-year degree.
Position requires at least three (3) years' experience in each of the following:
* Experience in successful project implementation and validation of LIMS products in the pharmaceutical and contract lab industry;
* Experience in technical configuration and coding involving LIMS, specifically LIMS Basic Coding and Crystal Reports Designing; and
* Experience preparing presentations and documentation for process improvements and software solutions, including developing detailed work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines.
Position requires domestic travel less than 5% of time to attend meetings at other company sites.
Compensation: $135,905.50 per year
