Function: Oversees activities necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor risks and controls across Consumer Banking. Activities will include risk mitigation in accordance with the Bank's Enterprise Risk Management framework. Supports the enhancement, development, and implementation of various operational controls, processes and procedures within the line of business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and addresses concerns related to the line of business Risk Appetite under the guidance of the line of business strategic objectives. Includes preparing and maintaining process maps.

  • Identifies and develops strategies in line with Consumer Banking senior management to respond to top and emerging Risks

  • Participates in risk related committees on behalf of Consumer Banking

  • Function as a department liaison to internal/external auditors and regulatory examiners

  • Provide operational support, analytical capabilities, and strategic insight to meet key objectives

  • Performs duties as a strategic professional who stays abreast of changes and trends within their field and actively applies this knowledge to their work

  • Serve as a liaison to frontline colleagues to provide clarity and training around risk and control activities

  • Identify, review, assess, and monitor risks associated with Consumer Banking systems, products and services

  • Support the build out and ongoing maintenance of Risk Statements and Risk Mitigation (controls) in the Risk and Control Self- Assessments

  • Support the management of incidents related to unmitigated risks and / or control deficiencies and gaps including investigating root causes, implementing corrective actions, and tracking issue resolution

  • Independently lead and influence stakeholders and management team to execute deliverables to meet business goals

  • Develop an effective communication strategy to ensure key information is disseminated to the right parties and deliverables are executed promptly

  • Serves as a liaison to and assists with Compliance Assurance, Data Governance, Vendor Risk assessment, Model Risk Management, SOX, SIRC, PMO, and Business Continuity related activities and initiatives

  • Performs rigorous control testing, identifying control breaches, and addressing deficiencies through issue management process. This includes tracking and escalating issues for resolution. Establish and maintain partnerships and collaborate across various locations and levels, including vertical risk managers within Audit, Financial Intelligence Group, Compliance, General Counsel, Risk Management, Vendor Risk, Information Technology and Information Security

  • Serve as a risk liaison to support the Sales Strategy and Marketing department by advising on the build out and ongoing maintenance of Risk Statements and Risk Mitigation (controls) in the RCSA process and ongoing Risk Assessments conducted annually

  • Perform ad hoc analysis, including regulatory changes and corporate policy review, as requested by senior management. Coordinate monthly metrics submission of key performance indicators and operational metrics, including analyzing trends/breaches and providing insightful commentary

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the management team on strategic and operational initiatives

  • Prepare management reports and business reviews for senior management to increase transparency of key initiatives

  • Assists with research and investigation into loan and deposit exceptions, suspicious or code of conduct related activities and complaints

  • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, and the ability to navigate in an environment where the path forward may not always be immediately clear

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to work independently under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and complete tasks with minimal supervision

  • A motivated self-starter and a collaborative team player who can excel in a matrix environment

  • A keen eye for detail and an understanding of how individual tasks contribute to larger objectives

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize and present information to senior management in a clear, structured, and confident manner

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, design appropriate solutions and influence others to drive successful outcomes

Education:

Requires a four-year college degree, with major or area of specialization in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related major.

Experience:

Requires ten plus years of general banking experience including five to ten years specialized knowledge of finance, risk management, and/or banking required.

Physical Demands:

Operates a keypad device 80% of the day and operates office equipment 5% of the day. Standing is required 5% of the day, sitting is required 90% of the day, walking is required 5% of the day and is slow in speed. Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18"- 20" for computer work 40% of the business day.
