This position is within Academic Affairs, and reports within the Testing & Evaluation Services portfolio.

Must be eligible to work in the US on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Purpose

Provides full-time test proctoring services with Testing & Evaluation Services, which includes the UT Public Testing Center, Campus Testing Center (CTC), and Student Testing Services (STS) labs. The UT Public Testing Center provides exam proctoring for placement, proficiency, distance education, and course-specific testing for students and clients both internal and external to UT Austin, and the CTC provides exam proctoring for accommodated exams. STS administers local credit-by-exams (CBEs) for residential undergraduates and also operates an Educational Testing Services (ETS) vendor-based lab. This works supports the mission of the Testing & Evaluation Services organization at the University of Texas at Austin.

Responsibilities
  • Exam Monitoring & Check-In: Administer exams and monitor clients of UT Public Testing Center, CTC, and STS throughout duration of exams. Interact with all clients and exam sponsors professionally, including undergraduate students, students from other colleges and universities, and contractual clients. Verify client identification to ensure only approved students are testing, and ensure all required information has been completed before test begins. Regularly proctor the test sites to ensure there are no exam security violations and/or client misconduct.

  • Exam Administration: Respond to unexpected occurrences with professionalism, calm demeanor, and authority. Maintain the security of testing materials before, during, and after test administrations. Maintain knowledge of exam processes for all exam sponsors. Identify process improvements for efficient exam proctoring services.

  • Exam Technical Support: Assist with technical troubleshooting of online exam administrations. Consult with contractual exam sponsors to resolve exam administration issues. Maintain client examination files.

  • Administrative Support: Provide support and backup for Testing Specialist with UT Public Testing Center to ensure compliance with exam security and administration requirements.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma and five years of experience in a testing services role or working with students in a higher education program OR Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in a testing services role or working with students in a higher education program. Excellent observation skills and attention to details. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Professional demeanor working with clients and colleagues as well as during peak periods. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and independently. Ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies, including a varied student population. Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in a high-performance environment.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. One or more years of professional experience in a testing services role.

Salary Range

$39,000 + depending on qualifications
