Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking an attorney with 1 - 8 years of relevant experience to join the Health Benefits Practice within the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice Group in our Chicago or Milwaukee office. Alternate Foley office locations may be considered based on business need and the candidate's experience. This full-time position could be either partner track or non-partner track, depending upon the candidate's background, interest, and experience.
Qualified candidates must have significant interest and industry knowledge in ERISA health and welfare employee benefits and/or health insurance or third-party administrator regulatory compliance work, preferably with a focus on service providers in the health plan industry, including PBMs, TPAs, and HRA vendors. As legal changes occur frequently in this space, with new laws, constant lawsuits, and regulatory guidance or updates to existing laws, our ideal candidate will have a passion and interest for health coverage and compliance issues and a true understanding and/or experience in the world of health benefits. Qualified candidates also will have experience in assisting employers, TPAs, PBMs, HRA administrators, consultants, insurance companies, or other benefits service providers with matters related to health and welfare benefits plans, including HIPAA, Affordable Care Act, No Surprises Act, mental health parity, health savings accounts, wellness programs, and/or cafeteria plans. Strong research, regulatory analysis, and drafting skills - from complex contracts to simple sentences at a 5th grade reading level - are required. We are seeking a well-rounded, dynamic, highly motivated attorney with strong academic credentials and superior writing, communication, and organizational skills. A positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and an exceptional work ethic are essential. To be considered, a candidate must hold a JD from an ABA-approved law school and must be in good standing and an active member of the Bar of the jurisdiction(s) where the candidate is admitted to practice. Timely admission to the Bar coinciding with the office of hire will be a condition of employment. Pursuant to the Illinois Equity Pay Act, the expected salary range for this Denver based position is between $225,000 - $390,000.
