DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As Assistant Medical Director, you will be responsible for providing medical advice and consultation to contracted physicians, nurses, and other professional medical staff. The consultations you will provide include reviewing case histories, staff reports, and inspection of medical services in State Correctional facilities. You will oversee the clinical services provided within the Department of Corrections correctional institutions, which includes medical physicians, physician assistants, certified registered nurse practitioners, and nurses. Additional components of this position include identifying training needs, developing specific training programs, and conducting various education or training sessions. You will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide recommendations regarding medical care provided by contracted physicians and Department of Corrections nurses through the use of the Quality Improvement program, utilization management, and the grievance system.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week (subject to change based on operational need). In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg.
- This position also qualifies for bonuses, generous paid time-off, training, and liability insurance coverage.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Completion of an approved U.S. residency training program in the allopathic or osteopathic medical specialty of family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, or occupational medicine, and five years of post-residency experience in the practice of medicine, including one year in the last three years acting in an administrative or consultative capacity over physicians assigned a direct primary care caseload.
Special Requirements:
- All positions require possession of an active license to practice medicine in Pennsylvania issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine or Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
- All employees require an active registration to prescribe medication from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
- All employees require board certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties; board certification by the American Osteopathic Board in Family Practice, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Occupational Medicine; board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine; or board certification by the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine as a Certified Medical Director.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
