Horie Optometry in Vacaville, California is seeking an Associate Optometrist for immediate vacation relief in June 2025, with the potential for regular part-time employment. Previously staffed with two doctors, the practice currently is down to one and looking to add another optometrist to help reduce patient wait times. Coverage is needed from June 10-27, and for the right candidate, there's an opportunity for a permanent role of 1-2 days per week. What you'll do:
As an Associate Optometrist at Horie Optometry, you will conduct comprehensive eye exams for patients with various eye-related disorders and conditions. These exams include visual field tests, retinal imaging evaluations, intraocular pressure measurements, glaucoma risk assessments, dilation, and contact lens fitting and management. You will determine each patient's visual acuity and prescribe glasses and contact lenses, as well as medications and treatment plans for ocular diseases and disorders. In-office procedures such as corneal debridement, punctal dilation, punctal irrigation, scleral lens fitting, ortho-k/CRT management, RGP assessment, and emergency contact lens removal may be required. You will check patients for signs of disease and refer them to other medical specialists when necessary, ensuring proper communication and follow-up. In emergency situations or for ongoing patient care, you are expected to be available for communication within 24 hours. You will maintain patient records in accordance with HIPAA standards, utilizing secure office charts and EMR systems. The hours for this position can range from 7 to 40 hours per week, depending on preference, with an average of 14 patients per day and hour-long lunch breaks.
