The Bangasser and Albers research labs in the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience at Georgia State University are dedicated to understanding the neurobiology of social behavior and stress responses. We use a variety of techniques from behavioral neuroscience, neuroendocrinology, and cellular and molecular biology to identify social and stress factors that alter cognition, motivated behavior, and affect. HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The essential duties and responsibilities of Research Coordinator II are the following:



  • Assembles and Analyzes Research & Scientific Data. Plans, coordinates and executes assigned research projects and exercises responsibility for project performance and progress
  • Assist in the administrative management of grants. Assists with writing scientific papers. conducts intake interviews and coordinate the administrative activities of the staff.
  • Assisting with general laboratory tasks and complex experiments, as well as data analysis. Collects, analyzes, and summarizes research data. Coordinates research activities and class schedules.
  • Prepares research materials for report or publication; Writes grants and research proposals. Assists faculty in submitting grant proposals or renewals. Research and distributes research and grant opportunities to faculty.
  • Communicating with veterinarians and health and safety staff to ensure standards of animal care and good laboratory practices are maintained. Trains lower-level staff and students in proper research methods. Works with students on research projects.
  • Ordering laboratory supplies and managing inventory. Maintains computer databases with research results. Conducts library research; prepares bibliographic materials. Set up the laboratory or other research areas. Cleans research areas.
  • Maintain the lab or research areas and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • Master's degree in assigned research area; or a combination of education and related experience.


Preferred Hiring Qualifications:



  • Experience working in a laboratory.
  • Experience with molecular techniques (e.g., ELISA, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, RNAscope, or microscopy).
  • Experience with rodent care and animal colony management. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with various individuals.
  • Demonstrated experience creating spreadsheets using software, such as Microsoft Excel. Strong project management, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to meet deadlines. Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office and presentation software, such as PowerPoint.
  • Experience conducting rodent behavior studies. Experience in mentoring and training staff.
