Senior Real Estate Counsel

Job Description:

Ryan Companies US, Inc.'s legal team plays an important role in assessing and managing legal risk and facilitating real estate development projects. This Senior Real Estate Attorney role will play an integral part in furthering Ryan's real estate developments across the country. This role will work closely and collaboratively with team members across Ryan, including, developers, capital markets, construction, property management and the other shared services. This role will also develop a strong rapport with Ryan's executive team and other senior leaders by providing guidance on real estate projects and associated risk management.

Some things you can expect to do:

  • Draft and negotiate purchase and sales agreements

  • Negotiate loan documents.

  • Lead and facilitate legal work to close acquisitions, sales and financings of real property.

  • Lead and facilitate all legal aspects of development deals for all product types (including industrial, multi-family, retail, healthcare and data center uses)

  • Draft and negotiate real estate leases (build-to-suit and multi-tenant spaces).

  • Negotiate real estate joint venture agreements and associated corporate formation and documentation (including providing guidance on joint venture and other corporate structures).

  • Oversee outside counsel providing legal counsel on real estate acquisition, sales, financings and joint venture transactions.

  • Assist real estate management in drafting and negotiating service contracts and vendor agreements.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with legal counterparts on construction contracts and construction related agreements.

  • Collaborate with the legal team to improve processes.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • A juris doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school is required for this position

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to identify and mitigate legal risks associated with real estate transactions.

  • Knowledge of relevant real estate laws, regulations and industry practices.

  • A strong business aptitude.

  • An eagerness and ability to collaborate and contribute well within a team structure.

  • An ability to provide guidance and support to other legal team members.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • An ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex projects and competing deadlines

Compensation:

The base pay range is $173,300-$230,000 /Annually. The salary may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
