Tool and Die Machinist - 2nd Shift ($36.31/hr. + $1.00/hr. Shift Differential)

Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Tool and Die Machinist position to be based out of Harvey, IL Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Tool and Die Machinist will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing all plant electronic equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience machining of new and breakdown repair work, rebuild and maintenance of various production dies, assist maintenance in repair of production equipment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:



  • Read and interpret blueprints, charts and sketches.
  • Know shop mathematics, mechanics, metal properties and correct sequence of machining operations. Make own sketches.
  • Set up and operate all machine shop equipment to make any replacement parts to close tolerances.
  • Plan work from maintenance work orders and intimate knowledge of equipment requirements.
  • Dismantle, check out and evaluate production equipment for needed repairs or replacements and be able to make such repairs.
  • Operate hoists, fork truck and floor crane to move and position parts and equipment as needed.


What you'll bring:



  • Experience in manufacturing environment
  • Strong sense of time organization and sense of urgency, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to pass the post offer employment process with drug screen


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Show progress and/or complete job specific training
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations
  • Gain a basic understanding of required duties and job expectations

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $36.31/hr. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
