Job Summary

Join a dynamic team at a world-class institution, where you'll blend hands-on fieldwork with office-based tasks to develop detailed irrigation maps for the Caltech campus. This internship offers the opportunity to work with aerial imagery, AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro, and Field Maps to support the Grounds team in accurately documenting irrigation pipes, valves, and related infrastructure. You'll utilize cutting-edge tools such as ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and other interactive applications to produce high-quality maps that support ongoing facilities and sustainability projects.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform mapping and spatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro and Fieldmap.
  • Convert PDF and Jpeg files into GIS shapefiles to generate a comprehensive campus irrigation map.
  • Apply geoprocessing tools to update, maintain, and enhance existing geospatial databases.
  • Collaborate with the Grounds team to support mapping and data visualization tasks in the field and office.

Basic Qualifications

  • Some college-level coursework completed in horticulture or landscape architecture.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Software.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.
  • Preferably a junior or senior in college with volunteer or work experience in GIS, geography or Landscape Architecture.

Hiring Range

$21.25 - $26.00 Per Hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
