DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role within the Inventory Management team collaborates with various business sectors and partners to ensure effective control of Highway and Highway-related materials inventory, aligning with operational requirements. The position involves assisting in the oversight of designated material inventory programs and systems, while also developing and proposing inventory management practices aimed at enhancing operational decision-making. This includes establishing policies and procedures that strengthen inventory controls. The individual is responsible for preparing detailed reports on material usage, purchasing activities, and associated costs, as well as analyzing system data to generate trend reports regarding inventory status. Additionally, the role entails managing and maintaining master data in SAP Plant Maintenance for Highway and Highway-related materials, reviewing departmental data on inventory levels and usage, and making recommendations to optimize inventory quantities. This optimization encourages just-in-time delivery of materials, which is crucial for cost avoidance and budget efficiency.

The position also plays a key role in the planning, development, and implementation of the Statewide Maintenance Accreditation Performance Index (MAPI) and the Inventory Control Metric. Responsibilities may include generating monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for field organizations, including Assistant District Executives for Maintenance, to evaluate their progress in achieving Inventory Control objectives. Furthermore, the individual contributes to the creation of statewide reports that provide analytical tools and insights to support managerial decisions and actions. A critical aspect of the role involves reviewing inventory reports to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.

Additionally, the position assists on-site during the Engineering District PennDOT Inventory Management Quality Assurance Review (PIMQAR), conducting reviews and evaluations of inventory programs to assess the extent to which goals and objectives are being fulfilled. The individual is tasked with coaching and training organizations on effectively utilizing existing inventory management reports, implementing best practices, and identifying other opportunities for improvement. Regular follow-ups are conducted to evaluate progress and facilitate enhancements in inventory management processes.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • This position is located in the Keystone Building or nearest PennDOT Engineering District Office, if space is available.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Management Analyst 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • two years of experience in technical management analysis work, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
  • This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
