DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Mail Inspector, your responsibilities include inspecting, examining, and searching items received at the facility to detect and prevent illegal drugs, weapons, or other contraband from entering the facility. You will have the sole discretion to deny inbound items received from various shipping or courier services for reasons that may include improper address or reasonable suspicion that the item may contain contraband. Work also includes coordinating the safe and timely delivery of admissible items with various institutional entities, such as libraries, chapels, or activities departments. You will be responsible for delivering publications, magazines, or packages by physically carrying or utilizing mailroom equipment. Additional duties include maintaining a log of all inmate property sent to the SCIs property office; staying current to policies and procedures which impact mail processing and delivery; and ensuring records are maintained in accordance with governing regulations. - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,785 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of clerical experience, including one year in the field of corrections; or
- Any combination of experience and/or training which provides the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
