Job Summary:

Are you passionate about metallurgy and eager to make a significant impact in the field of super alloys? Join our dynamic team at Chromalloy Castings Facility as a Metallurgist. In this role, you will lead investigations, testing, and experiments on the chemical and physical properties of metals, ensuring our products meet the highest standards for both internal and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Innovate and Lead: Provide expert metallurgical guidance and best practices to support the production of Super Alloy Manufacturing, Testing, and Processing.
  • Develop Cutting-Edge Processes: Create and refine melting, hot working, cold working, and heat-treating processes to achieve desired characteristics such as ductility, malleability, elongation ability, durability, and hardness.
  • Be the Expert: Serve as a subject matter expert for microscopic, x-ray, x-ray diffraction, and spectroscopic studies of metals and alloys, determining physical characteristics like crystal structure and impurity presence.
  • Drive Excellence: Conduct super alloy testing related to tension, compression, impact, bending, or fatigue devices to ensure compliance with manufacturing specifications and standards.
  • Collaborate and Communicate: Facilitate cross-functional communication between design and engineering teams, particularly in casting defect analysis, and recommend corrective actions for yield improvement.
  • Mentor and Train: Share your knowledge by training and mentoring engineers, technicians, and less experienced personnel on equipment and analysis related to super alloy manufacturing.
  • Lead Strategic Projects: Take charge of strategic projects, including internalizing certain testing operations.
  • Expand Your Expertise: Exposure to coating and corrosion properties is advantageous.



Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in material science or chemical engineering. or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with DS and SC Alloys.
  • Strong understanding of directional solidification and equiaxed superalloy casting metallurgical principles, including alloying elements, specific heat treatments to develop alloy phases, and laboratory techniques.
