A Brief Overview The England Laboratory at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and University of Pennsylvania is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician I to join our research team. The laboratory specializes in the study of early-life immune responses to vaccines utilizing animal (mouse) models with a specific interest in vaccines to viruses.
What you will do
- Perform molecular biology techniques including cloning and biochemical assays
- Perform mammalian cell culture and virus culture.
- Laboratory mouse handling including weight measurement, breeding, vaccine administration, and blood collection.
- Maintain comprehensive laboratory records and documentation
- Manage laboratory inventory/ordering and prepare common reagents
- Participate in weekly laboratory meetings and contribute to team discussions
- Support the development and optimization of new experimental protocols
- Support analysis and visualization of experimental data
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or related field Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- Related classroom or laboratory experience or successful completion of a technical training program (eg. Wistar, WPSI) Required
- At least six (6) months Related classroom or laboratory experience or successful completion of a technical training program (eg. Wistar, WPSI) Preferred
- Hands-on experience with laboratory techniques in cell and molecular biology, including performance of common laboratory calculations (e.g., making solutions, serial dilutions) Preferred

- Basic understanding of lab procedures, protocols, and equipment.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computational skills for data analysis and visualization
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong organizational skills
- Solid critical thinking / problem-solving skills
- Solid analytical skills
