Van Driver - Behavioral Health Drop-In Center

$17.50 to $19.50 per hour

Elwyn provides behavioral health services to improve the quality of life for individuals living with mental illness and addictions, serving over 7,000 individuals across 6 states. Elwyn Adult Behavioral Health Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Van Driver to join our dynamic Behavioral Health Drop-In Center in Raleigh, NC. This isn't just a job - it's an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others.

$17.50 to $19.50 per hour

Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm



The Drop-In Center



  • Operates under a blended model of a traditional clubhouse and peer-run recovery center, offering a cost-reimbursed service.
  • Provides a comprehensive program that goes beyond mental health/addiction recovery counseling.
  • Offers daily programs including physical health education and support, leisure activities, structured skills training groups, peer recovery services, and access to Elwyn's creative arts program, Studio 35.
  • Creates a space of hope and opportunity for members with mental illness to achieve their full potential.



What you'll do



  • Provide safe and efficient transportation of clients to and from designated locations.
  • Develop and implement efficient route plans based on client needs and supervisor direction.
  • Maintain cleanliness and ensure the regular maintenance of the vehicle.
  • Assist clients with entering and exiting the vehicle as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, guardians, residential sites, and other stakeholders regarding transportation needs.
  • Adhere to all transportation laws, rules of the road, and Elwyn Transportation policies to ensure client safety.
  • Develop and maintain clinically informed and therapeutically valid relationships with clients, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Maintain CPR and CPI certifications and follow all Elwyn policies regarding medical emergencies.
  • Integrate the PRISM model for the Effective Treatment of Serious and Persistent Mental Illness into everyday practice.
  • Complete necessary documentation and notify the supervisor of any pertinent information.
  • Actively participate in supervision processes and team/organizational performance improvement initiatives.
  • Perform all job-related duties and achieve individual performance goals as assigned.
  • Foster positive relationships with primary and supporting customers.



Requirements



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License with a safe driving record.
  • Experience working with individuals with severe mental illness and/or behavioral challenges.
  • Demonstrated compassion and empathy.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to build trust and partnerships.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand and relate to others effectively.
  • Ability to use resources effectively.
  • Ability to safely operate a 15 passenger van.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of assisting clients with mobility needs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR and CPI certifications.
  • Knowledge and practice of Elwyn policies, regulations, and standards (post-job offer).
  • Completion of Elwyn's required professional development activities (post-job offer).



Working Conditions



  • Requires travel to various locations to provide client transportation.
  • Utilization of a 15-passenger van during clubhouse hours and pre-approved after-hour special events.
