Regional Government Affairs Manager- South Florida

Location: Must reside in Palm Beach or Miami Dade County, FL, reporting to either West Palm Beach or Doral, FL office location, with periodic travel required

Your role in our success:

The Regional Governmental Affairs Manager is responsible for initiating, developing, and preserving key relationships with local officials and staff, as well as local business and community leaders to successfully support and achieve business unit goals and objectives. Provide the strategic groundwork for the successful implementation of company policies, initiatives, and objectives (expansion, development, etc.) by raising awareness and advocacy to the local governmental, business, and general communities, and through the coordination of the internal and external and stakeholders.

What you'll be working on...



  • Establishes and maintains relationships with local elected officials in the company's Southern Territory of Florida, primarily representing Florida City Gas within 7 counties, which includes Palm Beach (primary), Miami Dade (primary), Broward, Martin, Okeechobee, Hendry and Glades.
  • Attends local officials' meetings in territories to monitor governmental activities and build and maintain relationships with local elected officials and community leaders.
  • Attends chamber of commerce and trade association events in order to interact with local officials, community leaders and business or industry stakeholders.
  • Develops relationships with other utility companies' external affairs professionals.
  • Responsible for communicating the Company's natural gas advocacy campaign and positions to support for new technologies, infrastructure expansion and energy demands.
  • Responsible for maintaining local relationships in order to support the Company's business, governmental and regulatory initiatives.
  • Responsible for research of local political environments ahead of business development or natural gas expansion.
  • Provides legislative support for new business, governmental and regulatory initiatives, as needed.
  • Provides support for federal and state relationships, as directed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by Governmental Affairs Director.


Who you are...



  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, political science, preferred
  • Three years proven political, business or communications experience. Utility and regulatory experience a plus.


Key Skills & Competencies



  • Must live in Palm Beach and/or Miami Dade and have local Emergency operation Center responsibilities for Palm Beach County and/or Miami Dade. Reports to West Palm Beach Office or Doral Office.
  • Must be very comfortable with public speaking.
  • Must have a high level of initiative and be able to be self-directed.
  • Must be able to respond creatively to unique situations.
  • Must have very good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have analytical skills.
  • Must be Bi-Lingual: Spanish and English.
  • Knowledge in the Microsoft Office suite software.
