Description

First Merchants Bank is seeking an Operational Excellence Manager to join our team! The Operational Excellence Manager will partner with and support line of business efforts to optimize workflows, enhance efficiency, and create a culture of continuous improvement. This role requires analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align operational processes with organizational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Enterprise and team processes Partner with line of business to understand existing processes, review and make recommendations for enhancements that align with industry best practices.
  • Workflow Management and Optimization Establish, review, and maintain workflow management tools, templates, and establish best practice for updating.
  • Procedures and Documentation Create and maintain repository for team procedures and documentation of job duties and internal processes ensuring strict guardrails to review and version control.
  • Policy Alignment Ensure business processes align with established policies and organizational procedures, recommending changes where applicable
  • Collaboration and Implementation Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Performance Tracking Support the tracking, analysis, and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Adoption of Best Practices Contribute to the adoption and integration of industry best practices within the organization.
  • Strategic Alignment Help align line of business operational strategies with the organization's strategic imperatives.
  • Research and Analysis Conduct research to identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and continuous improvement with the line of business.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of operational processes with organizational goals.
  • Support and Guidance Operate under the guidance of the Director to execute tasks and meet team objectives effectively.
  • Support Business Management Office when urgent project requests need to be completed.


To be successful in this position, we require the following:



  • Bachelor's degree in related field - including Organizational Management, Project/ Product Management, Business, Finance or related field of study
  • Five (5) years' experience in operations management, product management, process improvement, program management or related field.


The following would be a plus:



  • Highly desirable: Certification in Agile Methodologies or Six Sigma - Yellow belt or higher.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • High level of decision-making, judgment, and ability to take initiative as a self-starter.
  • Proactive and adaptable, able to manage multiple projects and changing priorities effectively with minimal to no direction or guidance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for internal and external audiences.
