Job Title: Technical Accounting Manager

What you'll do: The Technical Accounting Manager will report directly to the Financial Reporting Director and be responsible for managing the bank's accounting policy and technical accounting functions, performing both recurring and ad hoc duties, with accountability for timely and accurate delivery.
- Serve as an accounting subject matter expert, perform technical accounting research, prepare whitepapers documenting the impacts and conclusions for appropriate treatment under GAAP, and ensure proper accounting and reporting of unusual transactions.
- Remain current on recent rules, interpretations, and industry practices (GAAP, SEC, regulatory, etc.).
- Monitor development of new and emerging accounting pronouncements, assess impact, communicate with relevant parties and lead the implementation efforts of such pronouncements.
- Support growth initiatives, including but not limited to new business lines, product extensions and M&A, ensuring business initiatives are supported with the necessary consideration of accounting, internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Oversee updates to existing corporate accounting policies and procedures and assess whether additional accounting policies and procedures are needed.
- Actively develop relationships across functional areas to ensure cross departmental collaboration.
- Participate in other projects, initiatives and analyses as needed.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred.
- CPA license required.
- 5 to10 years of direct experience in a similar or related discipline.
- Experience with a Big 4 (or top tier) audit firm, and/or experience within large financial institutions is highly preferred.
- High degree of analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to work/research independently and balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
