Description

The Department of Asian Societies, Cultures and Languages at Dartmouth College seeks to appoint a full-time non-tenure track Lecturer in Korean for the 2025-2026 academic year. Applicants for this position should be specialists in Korean language pedagogy who are prepared to teach courses in Korean language at the introductory level. The individual hired for this position will be the inaugural instructor of Korean language at Dartmouth. We hope that the Korean language program will expand in future years.

Dartmouth is known for using the innovative Rassias method of language instruction. The elementary language sequence at Dartmouth consists of instructor-led classes enhanced by additional small-group practice sessions led by undergraduate Apprentice Teachers (AT) who work closely with the instructor. The duties of this Lecturer position include hiring, training, and supervising Apprentice Teachers and preparing materials for them to use in those sessions.

This one-year position is non-remote, in-residence at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, with a start date of September 1, 2025. The appointed lecturer will teach six courses, two per quarter, during Dartmouth's fall 2025, winter 2026, and spring 2026 quarters (each quarter is 10 weeks long). This position comes with a competitive salary and benefits.

Dartmouth is committed to academic excellence and encourages the open exchange of ideas within a culture of mutual respect. People with different backgrounds, life experiences, and perspectives make the Dartmouth community diverse, which enhances academic excellence. Applicants should address in their cover letter how their research, teaching, service, and/or life experiences prepare them to advance Dartmouth's commitment to diversity in service of academic excellence.
