* Lead with Vision: Strategize and execute enterprise data management and IT initiatives with a focus on enterprise developer platforms.
* Inspire and Mentor: Guide platform engineering teams in managing stakeholder requests, architectural designs, training, policies, and regulatory requirements.

* Oversee Operations: Plan, staff, mentor, and manage departmental changes.
* Collaborate and Create: Work closely with business stakeholders and engineering teams to develop and enhance data solutions.
* Drive Automation: Champion CI/CD adoption and DevOps maturity with a focus on automated testing.
* Set Standards: Develop best practices for software development, change management, and incident resolution.
* Support and Develop: Provide leadership and guidance to staff and volunteers.
* Ensure Compliance: Maintain adherence to standard operating procedures and regulations.
* Manage Teams: Oversee hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.

The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States with a preference to work East Coast hours.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
1. Partner with engineering team's leadership to improve SDLC automation, increasing team effectiveness and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.
2. Drive design, development, documentation, and maintenance of scalable engineering platforms. Including CICD, Secrets Management, Automated Testing, and APIs to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity. Execute procedures, monitor capacity and performance.
3. Encourage BDD/TDD design and other quality frameworks. Guide unit/integration/functional/performance tests and document work.
4. Manage a team who designs, implements, and automates deployment of our distributed systems for collecting and processing streaming events from multiple sources.
5. Review data analysis required to troubleshoot data-related issues and oversee the resolution of data issues.
6. Serve as organizational department expert on platform engineering best practices, techniques, and methods. Research, analyze and apply emerging trends to goals and objectives. Participate in industry/knowledge reference groups.
7. Provide advocacy and education to various Engineer teams to drive continuous elevation of products and management.

Scope: Serve as the leader and organizer technical experts responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and implementing code to create modify and/or integrate highly complex technology that supports enterprise data management solutions. Under minimal guidance, accountable for architectural design, governance and compliance, maintenance of documentation, organizing communities of practice, and team management. Contribute strategic expertise to IT and organizational initiatives. Apply specialized expertise to solve critical issues and execute projects of high complexity, scope, size and/or risk. People manager that interprets and administers policies, processes, and procedures that may affect sections and subordinate units.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (required/minimum qualifications):
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Over 5 years of experience in leading and managing technical teams.
* Proficiency with various database and data storage technologies.
* Experience with cloud-based services, especially AWS (e.g., EKS, EC2, S3, RDS).
* Proficient in SDLC, QA, test automation, and DevOps practices/tools (especially GitLab and Grafana).
* Experienced in object-oriented programming, with a focus on Python.
* Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
* Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
* Familiarity with containerization tools and platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
* Knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and RESTful APIs.
* Skilled in Behavior Driven Development, performance testing, and test data generation.
* Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain Developer Tools and Platforms
* Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies, especially SAFe.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Travel: Travel may be required.

* Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++PAY INFORMATION:The annual salary range for this position is $150K - $175K. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. **We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location & experience.** This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.
