Responsibilities

Are you an experienced Substance Use Disorder Counselor, but not looking for full-time work? We are looking for a Substance Use Counselor/Addictions Counselor to provide counseling services to our in-patient population specifically on Sunday's and as needed.

Centennial Peaks Hospital has been providing psychiatric services to the Denver-metro area for more than 30 years. Located in beautiful Louisville, CO, our 104-bed facility provides a peaceful setting for those seeking treatment for mental illness including chemical dependency. Centennial Peaks offers unique and individualized programming for adolescents and adults that sets us apart from many other treatment facilities. Our dynamic leadership team includes a seasoned nursing department. Our hospital is fortunate to provide Electroconvulsive Therapy, Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs in addition to inpatient services.

Substance Use Disorder Counselor Details:

  • PRN Position - Sunday, day shift hours with some flexibility. Additional shifts potentially available, if desired, based on department need. PRN Differential: $1.50/hr plus weekend differential of an additional $2/hr.
  • Will be responsible for providing direct patient care for adult patients struggling with substance abuse.
  • SUDC will work closely with the patient and treatment team to develop a therapeutic plan for the patient.
  • This position provides direct clinical care through group therapy and developing relapse prevention plans.
  • Complete Addiction Severity Index Assessments (ASI's) for all dual diagnosis and detox patients.
  • Make discharge recommendations.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing and other evidence based skills to work with patients experiencing addiction to engage them in the recovery process.
  • Facilitate two addictions groups per day on the detox unit.
  • Complete group documentation and communicate with other members of the treatment team via treatment planning, team meetings or other means to coordinate care for patients.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.

  • Master's degree in related field preferred.

  • CAS or LAC required, LAC preferred.

  • One-year experience working with psychiatric mental health population, and/or chemically dependent population preferred.

  • Licensure/Certification: CAC II or CAC III preferred.

  • Knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training preferred.
