As an Assistant Operations Manager, you'll help lead our teams in maintaining high standards of operational efficiency while prioritizing the safety of all team members. As a steward of operational excellence an Assistant Operations Manager will need to be flexible and adapt to changing operational needs and schedules. With our dedicated teams working on all three coasts across over 33 ports and 70 locations, you'll feel empowered to grow professionally while serving the communities in which we operate.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Ensure compliance with safety programs and accident prevention procedures.
  • Supervise and manage Foreman, Labor, and other personnel, ensuring performance meets expectations and customer needs.
  • Manage daily labor needs, ordering appropriately and controlling overtime costs.
  • Collaborate with M&R/Terminal Departments for efficient equipment allocation.
  • Maintain positive labor relations and adherence to Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Proactively address employee performance issues and take corrective actions as needed
  • Advise leadership on labor matters and assist with complaint resolution.
  • Provide regular training and feedback to staff.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve operating procedures.
  • Ensure certifications and training are current for all staff.
  • Enforce company policies, controls, procedures and ensure timely reporting.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule (shift work).



Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience of electrical controls, electro-mechanical engineering, crane technician, or similar field
  • Obtain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Valid US Driver's License



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Logistics, Maritime, or related discipline
  • Experience working from and understanding electrical and mechanical engineering schematics / drawings
  • Thorough knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations



Physical Working Attributes:



  • Frequent walking, standing, bending throughout shift
  • Climb ladder multiple times throughout shift
  • Wear harness when working at heights
  • Work at elevations 150ft or higher
  • Work in changing hot and cold climates based on weather conditions
  • Work in an environment with high levels of noise, that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast moving equipment
