Role Summary

As our engineering manager for Body Structures, you will lead a team of mechanical design engineers to deliver automotive body structure designs to program cost, weight, and functional targets, helping to grow the organization while also having ownership of your given commodity.


Responsibilities

* Responsible for program deliverables for all projects pertaining to body structures
* Responsible for the performance and career development of team members
* Lead resource planning and recruitment for body structures
* Support the development and implementation of the latest technologies in materials, processes and design execution
* Lead collaborative development of body structural content, interfacing with cross-functional teams and attribute activities
* Responsible for design, release of engineering components and sub-systems throughout program lifecycle, including concept design, supplier engagement, BOM management, systems requirements, simulation analysis, prototyping builds, validation testing and production support
* Lead departmental problem solving activities


Qualifications

* Bachelors of Science in an engineering discipline (Masters degree and significant experience is a plus)
* 5+ years of first-hand experience leading teams in developing, validating, and launching vehicle body structures into production
* Strong understanding of the first-principle physics and requirements of body structures
* Detailed understanding of the manufacturing, materials and processes required to produce your components as well as commercial and financial awareness
* Ability to conduct & drive the DFMEA process
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* System approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for continuous improvement
* Passion to develop people and teams as a core part of the role


Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California-Based Applicants: $137,800 - $172,200 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premium
