Overview

Are you a highly analytic Risk Manager with excellent communication skills to partner with CBP leadership in evaluating, understanding, and treating risks in support of homeland security? AMERICAN SYSTEMS is looking for a Risk Manager to provide program and organizational risk management support, making a lasting impact on the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) mission-critical activities.



Responsibilities

    Develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies that align with DHS, CBP, and USBP objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize risks across programs and the organization, including operational, financial, strategic, and compliance risks.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and analyses, using qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate potential impacts and likelihood.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document risk mitigation plans and monitor the implementation of risk control measures.
  • Prepare and present risk management reports to senior management and stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations for risk reduction strategies.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure programs and the organization remains compliant and prepared for emerging risks.
  • Prepare topics and facilitate risk workshops and training sessions to enhance organizational awareness and promote a culture of risk management.
  • Establish key risk indicators (KRIs) to track and report on risk exposure and performance over time.
  • Develop and maintain risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks that reflect best practices and align with industry standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for risk-related inquiries, providing expertise and guidance to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Conduct in-depth investigations into risk incidents and breaches, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions for prevention.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve risk management processes, ensuring they remain effective and relevant in a dynamic business environment.


Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • CBP BI, Top Secret, or DHS Clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's with 12+ years of experience.
  • Experience working with large, complex programs for Government Agencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project and SharePoint.
  • Strong risk management background with knowledge of DHS/CBP's mission, vision, goals, and culture.
  • Excellent writing, briefing, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and effective decision-making.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.
  • Risk Certification(s), e.g., RIMS-CRMP.


Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $107,800.00/Yr. - USD $180,100.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
