Position Summary

TCW is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Operations Analyst to join our Asset Backed Finance (ABF) team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in processing and optimizing our ABF operations, ensuring the smooth execution of borrowing base requests, exception management, and whole loan transactions. This role requires excellent communication skills to liaise with originators, borrowers, and the investment team, as well as the ability to handle multiple asset-backed facilities and products. Additionally, the candidate must be proficient in calculating and verifying 3rd party waterfall payments, confirming trade details against the borrower's loan tape, coordinating wire payments with the settlements team, reviewing legal documents, and ensuring positions are correct in IBOR systems by verifying trustee's data and numbers.



Essential Duties

Borrowing Base Requests and Whole Loan Transactions

    Conduct thorough reviews of borrowing base requests to ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Process and manage ongoing revolver requests efficiently.
  • Maintain detailed records of all borrowing base activities and communications.
  • Manage the overall operational aspects of both flow and bulk whole loan transactions
  • Instruct the custodian for proper safekeeping of collateral notes and documents.
  • Maintain records of collateral held and audit collateral positions at the custodian periodically.

Calculation and Verification of 3rd Party Waterfall Payments:

  • Accurately calculate and waterfall payments where the Firm is the sole lender
  • Accurately verify 3rd party waterfall payments
  • Ensure all payments are processed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain detailed records of all payment calculations and verifications.

Trade Settlement and Coordination

  • Lead trade settlement process and coordinate with the Investment Team and Counterparties to ensure a timely and accurate settlement and escalate any potential issues.
  • Confirm trade details against the submitted collateral and loan tape and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate wire payments with the settlements team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, borrowers, and other counterparties to facilitate smooth operations and effective communication across all transactions.

Exception Management

  • Proactively identify exceptions and be the primary point of contact to resolve them effectively with internal and external stakeholders, which can include but is not limited to, incorrect data setups, reconciliation breaks, and incomplete data.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with exceptions.

IBOR System Verification:

  • Confirm positions are correct in IBOR systems by verifying trustee's data and numbers.
  • Ensure trade detailed records are accurate with in the Firms' IBOR
  • Collaborate with internal recon and data management teams to ensure all data and reported numbers are accurate

Platform Management and Data Integrity:

  • Collaborate with platform providers to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data issues
  • Coordinate with Investment Team that facilities are properly coded
  • Stay updated on new platform features and provide feedback to platform providers to improve system functionality and user experience.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in asset backed finance operations or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of borrowing base requests, exception management, and collateral requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience reading and interpreting credit agreements.
  • Excellent research skills, resourcefulness and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.


Professional Skills Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance requirements.

Estimated Compensation:

Base Salary: For CA based position, the base salary range is $155k to $175k. This is an anticipated range only.

Other Compensation: Eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus
