How you will make history here... The Senior Scientist - Sauces will directly support the Distinctive Brands segment of our Meals & Beverage Division focusing on core research, product development, and innovation for Rao's Homemade and Limited Reserve Sauces, the fastest growing brand in COS (center of store) delivering restaurant quality meals at home. Core products include our Italian tomato based red sauces, dairy based white sauces and pesto. This position will lead innovative food development projects from concept to commercialization, driving research efforts that enhance innovation, product quality, functionality, efficiency and consumer insights. This role requires a deep understanding of food science principles, culinary techniques, regulatory requirements and market trends, along with excellent leadership and communication skills to lead cross-functional projects with support from both internal and external partners to deliver unwavering success and brand expansion. - Lead and manage R&D projects, including development of new food products and continuous improvement
- Conduct experiments and trials to explore new ingredients, processes, and technologies.
- Analyze data and interpret results to inform product development decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify market needs and develop innovative solutions.
- Food industry trends, consumer preferences, and emerging technologies to drive product innovation.
- Ensure all products meet food safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., FDA, USDA) and develop and maintain documentation for product formulations, specifications, and quality control processes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration - working closely with suppliers and external partners to source ingredients and technologies and present findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
- This position may require travel up to 40% for plant trials, new product commercialization, ingredient supplier identification, manufacturer process qualification, bench top generation with various partners, sale meeting demonstrations, etc. Domestic and International travel may be required

- Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related field
- 7 years of experience or Master's degree in Food Science 5 years of experience.
- Food Science or Culinary experience in Italian cuisine with demonstrated experience/mastery across a range of thermal processing technologies (low acid, acidified, retort) for application in tomato and cheese & dairy based sauces.

Compensation and Benefits: The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $109,700-$157,700
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
