Description
Job Summary: Oversee and coordinate the fabrication, assembly, and shipping functions of the Samples Department to ensure high-quality samples of all InPro products. Lead a team to meet or exceed customer expectations while maintaining a safe and organized facility.
Primary Duties:
- Direct, coordinate, and schedule departmental labor resources.
- Complete needed purchase order requisitions to maintain proper purchased product inventory.
- Coordinate the cutting, fabrication, and assembly of all components to make finished product samples.
- Work with outside suppliers as needed.
- Ensure the daily shipping of all samples as requested by sales.
- Assist in ordering materials.
- Train new employees.
- Develop and monitor department production schedules.
- Implement and develop new processes and products.
- Ensure quality requirements and on-time delivery.
- Maintain communication with all manufacturing and office employees.
- Maintain communication with Outside Sales Reps.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and ship high-quality sample products.
- Manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Assist other supervisors or leads in developing team goals and objectives.
- Hold quarterly one-on-ones with all sample team members.
- Compliance with customer requirements.
- Ensure a motivational atmosphere.
- Act as a liaison between the Plant Manager and shop employees.
- Report potential hazards.
- Set and execute tactical goals as established.
- Foster a culture of individual ownership and entrepreneurship.
- Strive to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Drive the vision for the future growth and operational improvements.
- Adapt to and thrive in a dynamic, constantly changing environment.
Specifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience.
- Proven leadership ability.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Certified InPro or other LSS Green Belt.
- LEED Green Certification.
Job Relationships:
- Reports directly to VP of Global Supply Chain Management and Safety.
- Samples fabrication employees are direct reports.
- Collaborates closely with the Sales, Product Management/Development, Marketing Departments.
- Acts as manager of the production area.
Authority:
- Authority to stop production for non-conforming quality or safety compliance.
- May authorize changes in machine or production schedules for the department.
- Direct assignments and schedules of Samples workforce.
- Delegate responsibilities and direct personnel to needed work areas.
- Make decisions on product conformance to specifications.
- May authorize products to run on deviation according to procedures.
- Authority to mandate overtime where necessary, upon Plant Manager's approval.
- Conduct employee interviews, reviews, and disciplinary actions.
- Enforce company policies and procedures
- Hire and terminate as necessary, with VP assistance.
