Join our Team: Catering and Community Engagement Manager at McCallie School - Chattanooga, TN
About the Role: As the Catering and Community Engagement Manager with FISD, you will be responsible for overseeing all catering operations at McCallie School located in Chattanooga, TN. McCallie offers boys in grades 6-12 an exceptional education. As part of the Catering team, you will play a key role in creating memorable dining experiences while fostering a sense of community. ensuring exceptional service during events and maintaining high standards of food quality and sanitation. This role will also be highly involved in community engagement and special events, fostering strong relationships with the school and the wider community. You will manage and train a team of catering associates, coordinate logistics, and collaborate with the Chef to develop creative menus that meet the needs of our school community. Additionally, you will track labor and food costs, ensure smooth event execution, and maintain positive client relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise all catering events, ensuring seamless service from setup to breakdown.
- Oversee catering event operations, including the coordination of logistics, quality improvement, sanitation standards, and facility management.
- Collaborate with the Chef to develop creative and diverse menus tailored to event needs, ensuring that food is presented beautifully and meets customer expectations.
- Actively engage with the school community, planning and executing special events and building lasting relationships with clients and guests.
- Train and mentor catering associates in service techniques, menu presentation, and exceptional customer service.
- Track and monitor labor and food costs for each event to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
- Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, ensuring client satisfaction and exceeding expectations.
- Assist in the overall management of foodservice-related activities, ensuring that all catering operations run smoothly and efficiently.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Chef or Foodservice Director to support overall food service operations.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of catering management experience is required.
- Proven experience in catering operations, with the ability to manage large events and ensure exceptional service.
- Experience in planning and executing special events and engaging with the community.
- Familiarity with food and catering trends, including a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
- Strong financial, budgetary, and accounting skills, with experience in tracking labor and food costs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet usage for reporting and communication.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain ServSafe certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, staff, and management.
