As Senior Trade Compliance Officer you will play an integral role in the GDLS trade compliance program, with an emphasis on supporting our U.S. operations. This position ensures that GDLS achieves its business objectives while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory obligations. By building close working relationships and proactively working with GDLS business teams, you will provide critical strategic trade compliance guidance to enable business success. Through effective communication and collaboration with internal teams and external parties, you will contribute to the efficient and effective execution of business strategies.

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role
  • Analyze business needs with respect to global trade requirements and develop compliant solutions
  • Work under/within U.S. import/export laws and regulations and those of other countries where GDLS conducts business, including:
    • U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
    • U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
    • U.S. Importation of Arms, Ammunition and Implements of War Regulations (ATF)
    • U.S. Customs and Border Protection Regulations
  • Implement GDLS trade compliance policies and procedures, providing guidance across the organization
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders in support of trade matters
  • Assist with regulatory interpretation and guidance in the following areas: Anti-boycott/restrictive trade practices; export control classification; compliance training; export documentation; tariff classification; sanctions; and embargoes
  • Monitor overall Trade Compliance activities:
    • Develop and maintain import/export procedures and processes
    • Lead audits and conduct internal reviews/self-assessments
    • Investigate reports of possible non-compliances and facilitate the development and implementation of corrective action(s)
    • Develop any associated voluntary disclosures and ensure corrective actions are fully implemented
    • Develop and implement technology control plans and security plans, to include review and approval of facility and system access
  • Develop and implement trade compliance training, and assist with training for international operations
  • Support trade-related aspects of visitor management process
  • Support other team members as needed, such as managing and drafting export licenses
  • Develop and implement trade related communications and process improvements
  • Lead and execute key projects related to trade compliance


Qualifications Sought
  • Must have the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory matters to the business
  • Working knowledge of trade compliance regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and U.S. Importation of Arms, Ammunition and Implements of War Regulations (ATF), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Regulations
  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with individuals at various levels throughout the organization both written and verbally
  • Ability to manage a team
  • Ability to convey complex technical matters in an effective and understandable manner
  • Demonstrated understanding of information technology security and trade compliance issues
  • Proficient computer skills including all MS Office applications
  • Must be a self-starter capable of working independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must be able to multi-task and plan, prioritize, organize and control heavy workloads in a fast paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully completing multiple projects within projected schedules
  • Ability to travel (i.e., possess/have ability to acquire and maintain a valid passport)


Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of other laws and regulations governing international trade is desired
  • 10+ years of experience in Compliance and/or Licensing
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a security clearance
